Omaha Hi Lo: Fundamental Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible game, has increased in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha/8 starts exactly like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to each player. A round of wagering ensues where gamblers can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are handed out, this is called the flop. Another sequence of wagering ensues. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, another card is flipped on the turn. a further sequence of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The players must attempt to put together the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where some entrants often get flustered. Contrasted to Holdem, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player must utilize exactly 3 cards on the board, and exactly two cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the best possible hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the very same approach in just about all poker games.
The lower hand is more complex, but really free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the worst hand that might be made, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand available, the higher hand wins the whole pot.
While it seems difficult at the start, after a couple of hands you will be agile enough to pick up on the fundamental nuances of the game with ease. Seeing as you have players betting for the low and wagering for the high, and since such a large number of cards are being used at once, Omaha hi/lo provides an overwhelming collection of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have numerous players shooting for the high hand, and a few trying for the low hand. If you love a game with a lot of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha/8.
