Omaha Hi/Low: Basic Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most complicated but popular poker variations. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once obscure game, has increased in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha/8 starts just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering follows in which players can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are given out, this is known as the flop. Another round of betting happens. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further round of wagering ensues and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will have to make the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where many entrants get confused. Unlike Hold’em, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player must use exactly three cards on the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the strongest hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the same concept in almost all poker games.
A low hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the higher hand wins the complete pot.
It may seem complicated at the outset, following a couple of hands you will be able to get the basic nuances of play simply enough. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an exciting collection of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have many individuals shooting for the high, along with many battling for the low. If you like a game with a lot of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha hi low.
