Omaha Hi-Lo: General Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complicated but popular poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible game, has grown in acceptance so quickly.
Omaha 8 or better starts like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues in which players can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. A further round of betting happens. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. Another sequence of betting follows and then the river card is revealed. The entrants will need to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is where some players can get confused. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player must utilize exactly 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, no less.
