Omaha Hi/Low: General Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible variation, has grown in popularity so amazingly.
Omaha 8 or better begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are given out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting ensues. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. Another sequence of wagering follows and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will have to make the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is where many players get confused. Unlike Texas Holdem, in which the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to use precisely three cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the best possible hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in almost every poker game.
A low hand is more difficult, but really free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the higher hand wins the complete pot.
While it seems complex initially, following a couple of hands you will be agile enough to get the fundamental nuances of play simply enough. Seeing as you have players wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an exciting collection of betting possibilities and seeing that you have many players battling for the high, along with many battling for the low.
