Omaha Hi Lo: Fundamental Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most difficult but popular poker games. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has grown in acceptance so quickly.
Omaha hi lo starts just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of betting ensues where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. Three cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. A further sequence of wagering happens. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. Another round of wagering happens and then the river card is flipped. The entrants will need to put together the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where many players often get baffled. Unlike Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must utilize exactly 3 cards on the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the strongest hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same notion in nearly all poker games.
The lower hand is more complicated, but really opens up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that could be put together, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand takes the complete pot.
It may seem complex at the outset, following a few hands you will be able to get the basic subtleties of the game easily enough. Since you have individuals wagering for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at once, Omaha hi/lo provides an exciting collection of betting options and seeing that you have many individuals battling for the high hand, along with several battling for the low. If you enjoy a game with a lot of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha/8.
