Omaha Hi Lo: Fundamental Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but favored poker games. It is a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once invisible variation, has expanded in popularity so amazingly.
Omaha hi/low begins like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to every player. A round of betting follows where players can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. One more sequence of betting ensues. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, a further card is revealed on the turn. Another round of wagering follows at which point the river card is revealed. The gamblers must attempt to make the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a few players can get flustered. Contrasted to Texas Hold ‘Em, in which the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards from the board, and exactly 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the best hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the same approach in almost every poker game.
A low hand is more difficult, but certainly opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that can be put together, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The low hand wins half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no low hand available, the high hand takes the whole pot.
Although it seems complicated at first, following a couple of hands you will be able to get the base nuances of the game with ease. Since you have players betting for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at once, Omaha hi/lo provides an amazing assortment of betting options and owing to the fact that you have several players battling for the high hand, and several battling for the low hand. If you prefer a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha Hi-Lo.
