Omaha Hi Low: General Overview

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker variations. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once obscure variation, has expanded in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha hi low starts like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to every player. A sequence of betting follows where gamblers can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. Another sequence of betting happens. After all the gamblers have either called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The players will need to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where some entrants often get baffled. Unlike Hold’em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player has to use exactly three cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the best hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same approach in almost all poker games.
A lower hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that can be put together, with the lowest value being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there’s no low hand available, the higher hand takes the entire pot.
While it seems difficult at the outset, following a few hands you will be agile enough to pick up on the fundamental subtleties of the game with ease.
