Omaha Hi-Low: General Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It’s a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has increased in popularity so rapidly.
Omaha/8 begins just like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to each player. A sequence of wagering follows in which players can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. Another round of wagering ensues. After all the players have in turn called or folded, another card is flipped on the turn. Another sequence of betting follows and then the river card is revealed. The entrants must attempt to make the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is where some entrants often get baffled. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to use precisely three cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the strongest hand out of everyone’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical notion in almost every poker game.
A low hand is more complex, but really free’s up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be put together, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand takes the complete pot.
It may seem difficult at the start, following a couple of hands you will be able to pick up on the basic subtleties of play with ease. Since you have individuals betting for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are in play, Omaha hi-low offers an amazing collection of betting choices and because you have many players shooting for the high, as well as many trying for the low hand. If you prefer a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha 8 or better.
